Abstract
The present study assessed drug, alcohol and tobacco consumption by college students from a private university in Mexico City. This study complements similar studies conducted in the same institution during 2000, 2002 and 2008. A non probabilistic sample of 139 students, from the Psychology and Communication Sciences Schools answered the saeu-r questionnaire. Results showed that consumption of five drugs has consistently increased during the last eleven years. Relative to the previous studies, alcohol consumption and particularly, alcohol intoxication has increased abruptly. Results are discussed in terms of prevention strategies that may be implemented by the institution. Results are also discussed in terms of substance availability and its impact on the students from the institution.
