Abstract
The objective of this research was to determinate to what extent the parental practices predict the strengths and difficulties of preadolescents, in a sample of 489 boys and girls (M=11.2, DE=.82). Were used the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (Goodman, 1997) and the Parental Practices Scale (Andrade y Betancourt, 2010). The results indicated that the boys show more behavior problems and hyperactivity/ inattention compared to girls, who present more emotional symptoms and prosocial behavior. The two structural models reveal that the parental practices, both mother and father, have impact in the strengths and difficulties of their children.
