Abstract

Bullying is a violence phenomenon that may occur into the school environment, and cause many physical and psychological consequences in the victim. Current researches indicate an increase of bullying in Mexico City, however, there are little information about bullying perception in their participants. The aim of this study is to contrast the bullying perception between basic education students and teachers. Three questionnaires were developed for the researchers and were applied to 2 905 students and 60 teachers of public elementary and junior high schools. The bullying perception in students and teachers are opposite. Whereas students consider bullying as a frequent and serious problem, teachers consider it as an uncommon and low intensity problem. Such differences can generate serious consequences, since teachers are the responsible in detecting and solve these cases.
