Abstract

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (tdah) has traditionally been studied from cognitive symptoms, but not from emotional symptoms. the limited number of investigations that have explored the emotional factors have not presented an overall picture. Faced with this situation, a state of the art research on such emotional disturbances has been carried out in order to synthesize the findings obtained, which would allow a deeper understanding, from an integrative perspective, of the emotional aspects of the disorder. Thirty-five articles were analyzed through a critical reading, and qualitative analysis techniques were applied. The emotional difficulties most highlighted by the studies, such as recognition and emotional regulation, were identified. It is concluded that emotional disturbances are significant characteristics in the disorder and, given their complexity, can be approached from neuropsychological aspects.
