Abstract
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program was applied to 20 individuals with an average age of 43.8 years that reported stress or chronic pain (arthritis, migraine, fribromyalgia, hypertension, and more). The hypothesis states that these affections would be diminished by the influence of the msbr program. Evaluations were taken prior and after a nine-week program. Nowack Stress Profile, Biodots, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) of Huskisson, and Pain Coping Questionnaire (CAD-R) tests were applied. Results show a statistically significant reduction on the levels of stress (Nowack (p < 0.0001), Biodots (p < 0.001) and on the levels of chronic pain (VAS (p = 0.002)). CAD-R test showed no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05). In conclusion, MSBR program is a suitable technique to reduce the levels of stress and pain.
