Abstract
Looking for strategies to improve the teaching-learning process in mathematics, this paper investigates the preferential learning channel of business school’s freshmen (through O’Brien´s test) and the linear dependence between the questions of the test and the scores in a mathematical placement exam. It was found that most of the freshmen have a preference for the visual channel. Three questions have a significant relationship with the scores of the mathematics exam. These significant questions could be linked to certain aspects which may improve or harm the teaching-learning process.
