Abstract

The new social dynamics have made it imperative for universities to evaluate their processes of effectiveness in teaching and learning, and to know if the knowledge developed by young people graduating from the university is congruent with the needs and competencies required by the social context, economic and political. One of the ways that support in this evaluation process is to attend and understand the walk of the graduates. However, a high percentage of the institutions do not carry this monitoring for several factors, among them the lack of a methodology that can contribute to the collection and analysis of results in this regard. That is why the research group number 4 of the Research Committee of FIMPES (CIF), makes a proposal for it, starting from a qualitative methodology with the technique of focal group that provided a guide of categories —such as generation, facilities, environment academic environment, work environment, graduate perception, extracurricular activities and continuing education—, which make it possible to understand the perceptions of these areas for possible improvement.
