Abstract

Among environmental problems in Mexico, one of the most serious is the generation, management and disposal of Urban Solid Waste (usw), the organic fraction (of-usw) corresponds to 52.4% of the total waste generated; constituting an area of opportunity in the biotechnological field, being necessary to attend to the separation, collection, management and its final disposition linking the environmental, social and economic aspects from the complexity of environmental education. The generation and disposition of the OF-USW, same ones that come from food outlets of the fes-Iztacala (unam), our research group carried out the study with a multi-method approach. To increase the percentage of separated of-usw, on average 58 kilograms per day, it is necessary to reinforce the strategies for its use in a biogas generating plant installed on the Almaraz campus of fes-Iztacala unam.
