Suicidal ideation in young people and its link whit psychological distress, family problems and dating violence

Abstract

Suicidal ideation in young people is a multifactorial phenomenon; some studious indicates that psychological distress is one the main factors in addition to family problems and other social aspects such as dating violence. The purpose of this study was to determine to want extent psychological distress, family problems, and dating violence predict suicidal ideation predict suicidal ideation in young people. A descriptive and predictive study was carried out by designing and validating a survey that was applied to 2840 university students. Results show significant correlations between psychological distress and family problems and dating violence. Psychological distress along whit family problems are the main predictors of suicidal ideation in young men and women.
