Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the achievements and mistakes of the Reform for Secondary Education (RES) 2006 in the establishment of the basis for the new secondary education program in Mexico, which this year accomplishes four years of implementation. The 2010 - 2011is the first generation entering the school under this program and this is the reason because it can not be evaluated until its completion of the first year of preparatory in June 2011, until then, it will be possible to judge if this generation of students has completed the proposed educational purpose. This situation raises some questions; first, have the teachers who work at this level received an effective guidance and training? Do teachers are aware of the theoretical foundations that are included in the program? And finally, how effective were taught the contents of the program of History, to promote the identity and critical assessment of the students?
