Abstract

The spread of sars-cov-2 (COVID-19) coronavirus disease has had a significant effect not only on the physical health but also on the mental health of the general population worldwide. This issue is particularly worrying given the evolution of the pandemic and the transition that comes with adjusting to the so-called new normality. Despite the implementation of strict sanitary control measures, the incidence and mortality from this disease are increasing, and along with this, a series of problems of a social, economic and psychological nature. The aim of this study was to identify the knowledge related to covid-19, as well as the psychosocial needs related to confinement and the so-called new normality in the Mexican women. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out which consisted of the application of a questionnaire prepared ad hoc in 174 women between 18 and 77 years old. The results reveal that 72.4% requested psychological support and the three most reported problems were: stop seeing friends (10.8%), stop seeing family (9.9%) fear of virus spread (8.2%). Emotional responses to anxiety and stress are the most reported.
