Abstract
The objective of the study was to evaluate a preventive intervention addressed to families with risk factors for the occurrence of child sexual abuse. The intervention intended modifying elements of their familiar functioning, such as, family strategies of support, communication and affective expression. A quasi-experimental design of two groups was used with measurements made before and after the intervention. The Family Assessment Device Scale (FAD) and The Intrafamiliar Relations Assessment Scale (ERI) were used. The results showed a statistically significant improvement after the intervention in the experimental group; so it is concluded that the intervention program was effective. The results provide evidence of the usefulness of short-term family group interventions.
