Abstract
Pedagogical technical advice is a function with a long tradition in ba- sic education in Mexico. In general, the advisors have been supported personnel ‒teachers who pedagogically accompany their peers‒ who work in the intermediate instances, both in the State Secretariat of Education, as well as in the sectors, districts, and school zones. In different educational reforms, the importance of these advisers has been raised; however, there is little information about the activities they do, the historical moments that have configured this function, and the most significant tensions and challenges for their improvement. This text is an introduction to such aspects; begins with the moments that have defined the advisory function in Mexico, then some tensions that have prevailed in it are raised and, finally, certain challenges are suggested for its im- provement, which aims to contribute to the analysis of this function in the Mexican educational panorama.
