Abstract
The study aims to identify the influence that exists between institutional support and social entrepreneurial intention, as well as the mediating effect of social entrepreneurial self-efficacy. A descriptive correlational design was used in a sample of 3 739 university students from business schools in Mexico, Colombia and Peru. The data were collected through an online questionnaire, and for the statistical analysis the modeling of structural equations with covariance cb-sem was used. A significant positive impact was found between university institutional support and social entrepreneurial intention (R2 = 11%) which increased by including social entrepreneurial self-efficacy (R2 = 54%). In conclusion, social entrepreneurial self-efficacy is a mediating variable between institutional support and social entrepreneurial intention, which allows obtaining a greater degree of explanation of variability.
