Abstract
The present research makes a comparative analysis of contextual factors and academic performance to see which of these factors can predict high or low academic performance in college. Nonexperimental design, cross-sectional, in fact, survey format descriptive and analytical. Population of 2.599 university students and forced selection of a sample of 629, divided into two groups, one low and one high performance. We observed significant correlations at p <0.05 between educational factors (57%) that socioeconomic factors (43%) with school performance.Predictorias variables at p <0.05 were academic history is the result of their study habits 34% and socioeconomic status influences the acquisition of knowledge 66%.
