Abstract
Investigation of transversal type developed under the quantitative method with the students of Normal Veracruzana School, was performed with the application of a questionnaire to identify the relationship between the manifestations of violence and gender in dating relationships. The information collected and statistically analyzed identified that there are differences in the ways in which couples are violent and that gender does not determine it. These data allow contrasting conceptions about dating violence, from breaking the myth that it is women who suffer the most. The results shown by this study gives elements to propose that the initial teacher training students' ability to recognize violence and its forms of manifestation are promoted, and offer options to address it so that when work in educational basic institutions can propose preventive actions and not just remedial attention.
