Abstract
The use of cannabis has kept increasing. This topic has become gradually more relevant due to the current discussions about the legalization of the therapeutic and recreational uses of marihuana. However, the clinical aspect goes beyond those discussions because it promotes a deep comprehension of the implications observed in users. Chronic and latent depressions have been predominantly found. The user tries to modify a subjective feeling of chronic pain through an artificial defense found in cannabis. The neurochemical manipulation demands the consideration of the neurobiological features implicated in the impact of the use of psychotoxic agents, particularly the endocannabinoid system and the basic emotion systems, apart from the cognitive deficiencies recorded. A preliminary modified treatment for cannabis users is suggested based on a neuropsychoanalytic approach through case study materials.
