Psychological aspects of relatives of people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Abstract

Families in which there is a member with some kind of physical or psychological disorder, such as ASD, experiment complex feelings because the needs that they have to cover, leave them exhausted, causing important changes in their life. So it is advisable to receive psychotherapeutic attention in different modalities such as individual and family psychotherapy. This document describes some characteristics of 100 cases of relatives of people with asd who were treated at the Family Support Program of the Autism Clinic of the Centro Integral de Salud Mental, in individual or family therapy modalities, during the period between June 2009 and August 2010.
